For more than 35 years, John Mercurio has worked to improve East Bay trails, protect open space, and make our regional parks more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. As a member of the East Bay Regional Park District Board, John has focused on practical leadership, responsible stewardship, and delivering results for park users across Contra Costa County.
John believes our parks are one of the East Bay’s greatest public treasures - places where families connect with nature, communities come together, and future generations learn the value of conservation and public access.
During his first term, John built strong working relationships with park users, local elected officials, community leaders, and Park District staff to help move critical projects forward, improve trail safety, and advocate for the opening of new parklands.
Now, John is running for re-election to continue protecting the integrity of our regional parks while ensuring they remain safe, welcoming, and accessible for all.
